Helen Keller Quote

Now that I'm on my way to my life goals and I'm helping you to do the same,
I would also like to give some thought to others in our world who may not
be so fortunate.

Worth while causes heading

Philosophy
I would like to think of myself as giving others a hand up, rather than a handout.
Giving financial support to organisations which have been set up to address
particular concerns is one way to share our own good fortune and to express
our gratitude that “There but for the grace of God go I!”
Giving people a hand up provides the help they need to put their lives back
together faster and with a lot more dignity.

There are many great charities which deserve help. The Wealthy Nomad is proud to sponsor these major ethical organisations:

support to continue their good work. These very reputable organisations, carry
out valuable work in areas which ultimately affect us all.
No man is an island…

National Breast Cancer Foundation
Funny how we get involved with these charities. As a bloke you would not think that I would be involved but I do like breasts and they are a very much an important part of a woman's identity a measure of her self. I was on a flight from Perth to Sydney when I started chatting to the woman who was sitting next to me, it turned out that she was the General Manager of the NBCF. A long flight was made pleasant and enjoyable with the end result I decided to place this charity as one to support on this web site.

Camp Quality
You only have to see the kids from the camp to feel how worth while this cause is. I was working on several large construction jobs in the offshore oil industry where the clients offered ex amount of money for us to donate to a worth cause of our choice if we made the work safe and accident free. For the two projects we donate just a bit under $50k AD and had the pleasure of a group of kids from the camp come and visit our ship. Even the most arrogant of the sailors melted when this lively bunch of kids jumped aboard and crawled all over us. I will always remember the experience and they still have my support.

Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres)

Doctors Without Borders
Of all the ORG's that operate in the danger zones and the areas where there is little to no hope, this group demands attention. They not only have their heart and principles in the right place, they also back it all up with world standard medical skills. What they is something I could not imagine doing and so they earn my respect and support through donations.

World Wildlife Fund

World Wildlife Fund
No doubt about it this worthwhile organisation pushes hard the warm fuzzy stuff but it also is very realistic about preserving and bringing to everyone's attention the need for bio diversity. Most of what they are trying to do works against the principles and ethics of the big money people and consequently I think it is worth a push as they stand up for the future. It would be nice to ensure financial security for the future of our next generations and still have whales, penguins, elephants, lions etc available for the future generation to enjoy and wonder about.
